Agree what the study must answer.
- Decision and context
- State what must be decided and what is already known.
- Agreed scope and method
- Define what the study will answer and where outside research is needed.
- Reviewed findings
- Check evidence and sources with the client before the final study.
Keep the investigation inspectable.

The detail behind the decision.
Open a chapter for the full context, the evidence to inspect and the limits of the view.
Chapter 01
When a standard report is not enough
Decide whether a report from a sentence will do, or whether to commission.
Read this chapter
A report from the product is the right answer when the question is one the platform already holds the evidence for. It is the wrong answer when the question is specific to your situation, needs data from outside the platform, or needs someone to decide what to compare with what.
Chapter 02
What you can commission
Bring a question with a decision attached to it and agree what the study must answer.

Studies that support a defined decision:
- GCC entry: whether, where and in what shape
- Location strategy for a specific capability and size
- Workforce feasibility for a stated team plan
- Talent-market study for a role family or a seniority band
- Competitive benchmark of named GCCs
- Capability study: where a function stands against peers
- Industry study or peer landscape
- Custom analysis of one company
Chapter 03
How an engagement runs
Know what is being done, and what you will get, before the work starts.
Read this chapter
You describe the decision and what you already know. An analyst turns that into a written brief: the question, the scope, what the output will look like. You agree it. The analyst works from CapSight data, adds structured research for what the platform does not hold, and checks the findings with you before the final version.
From a question to a study
The brief is agreed in writing before the research starts.
- Step 1
Question
The decision and what you already know.
- Step 2
Brief
Scope, method and the shape of the output.
- Step 3
Research
CapSight data plus structured market research.
- Step 4
Study
Findings you can use in the room, reviewed with you first.
Chapter 04
What you receive
Walk into the discussion with a study that was built for it.
Read this chapter
A study written to answer your question, with the evidence behind each finding and its source. It can be delivered as a document and as a presentation, and the underlying figures stay consistent with what you see in the product.
Custom Research supports a decision. It is evidence and analysis, and it does not replace the advice of a firm that carries the responsibility for your decision.
Questions this evidence can answer.

- 05
What does the supplier ecosystem around GCCs in Pune look like?

Definitions for this view
The terms on this page, defined.
Every figure on a CapSight page comes with its definition, so you never have to guess what a number is counting.
- GCC
- A Global Capability Centre: a centre a company runs in India for its own global work, such as engineering, analytics, finance, operations or support. It is part of the company, not an outside vendor.
- Platform Industry
- The one industry grouping CapSight uses for every company, so a filter or a chart means the same thing on every page. There are 10.
- Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities
- Tier 1 is the eight established hubs: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Every other city is Tier 2.
- Designed report
- A report laid out as a finished document, with charts and a written read-out, that you can open, download and present, not a table export.
- Source line
- The note under a figure that says where it comes from, so a number in a report can be traced back to the evidence behind it.
- Report depth
- A snapshot is a quick read, an executive brief is written for a meeting and a deep dive is written for a decision. You choose the depth before anything is built.
Take the next step
Bring the question.
Tell us the decision and what you need to know, and we will say whether it is a report or a study.
