A centre scales in steps that can be seen: a new city, a hiring surge, a new function, a senior appointment.

The detail behind the decision.
Open a chapter for the full context, the evidence to inspect and the limits of the view.
Chapter 01
What counts as evidence of expansion
Judge a signal knowing what kind of evidence it is.
Read this chapter
A new GCC. A new city or a second location. A workforce ramp. Hiring that has picked up against the centre's own history. A new capability or business function. A senior appointment. A function that has been built out. A public announcement.
None of these is treated as a commitment. A hiring surge may be a replacement cycle; an announcement may not be funded. The signal says what was recorded and leaves the reading to you.
Chapter 02
What changed, and when?
Read the change itself, with its date and source, before its summary.
Read this chapter
Each signal carries the company, the date, the city, the function or capability and the source. They are verified and scored before they appear, and they are sorted by how recent and how significant they are.
Chapter 03
How significant is it?
Tell a notable move from background noise.
Read this chapter
A fifty-person site in a company of forty thousand and a first site for a company with none are different events. Significance is read against the size of the centre and the usual pace of the company, and the basis for it is shown.
Chapter 04
What other evidence supports it?
Confirm or doubt a signal against the company's other data.
Read this chapter
One signal alone is weak. Open the company and see whether hiring in that city has risen, whether the function now shows senior roles, whether another location has appeared. Evidence that points the same way is worth more than any one item.
From a signal to the company behind it
Every signal links to the data that supports or weakens it.
- Step 1
Signal
What happened, where, when, with the source.
- Step 2
Company
Size, history and the pace it usually runs at.
- Step 3
Hiring
Open roles in that city and function.
- Step 4
Leadership
Who was appointed, and to what.
Chapter 05
Why it might matter
Turn a signal into the action that fits your role.
Read this chapter
For a recruiter it is a team about to be built. For a property team it is space that may be needed. For a seller it is a budget that may open. For a competitor it is a move to answer. The signal is the same; the use depends on who is reading.

Definitions for this view
The terms on this page, defined.
Every figure on a CapSight page comes with its definition, so you never have to guess what a number is counting.
- GCC
- A Global Capability Centre: a centre a company runs in India for its own global work, such as engineering, analytics, finance, operations or support. It is part of the company, not an outside vendor.
- Platform Industry
- The one industry grouping CapSight uses for every company, so a filter or a chart means the same thing on every page. There are 10.
- Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities
- Tier 1 is the eight established hubs: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Every other city is Tier 2.
- Operating centre
- A company's presence in one city. A GCC with centres in three cities has three, which is why centres outnumber GCCs.
- Signal
- A recorded change at a company, such as a new site, a hiring surge or an appointment, with its date and source. A signal is evidence of activity, not of what the company intends.
- Median and percentiles
- The median (P50) is the middle value: half the sample sits below it. Percentiles show the spread around it, so a median is never quoted without its band.
