Chapter 01

From a company name to the whole picture

Open any GCC and see where to look next.

Read this chapter

Search any of the 2,557 GCCs and open one page that carries the centre as an operating unit: headcount and revenue where reported, the cities it works from, the functions it runs, how long it has been in India and what it has done since.

Every other section below is a layer on that page, so you can start wide and go as deep as the question needs.

In the evidence

What one organisation page holds

Each layer opens into its own view and each uses the same company record.

  1. 01

    Scale and standing

Headcount, revenue where reported, the global parent.

  2. 02

    Workforce

Functions, seniority and where the hires come from.

  3. 03

    Hiring and skills

Open roles, the skills in demand and their pay premium.

  4. 04

    Pay

Annual cost to company at four percentiles, against industry and market.

  5. 05

    Leaders and structure

Who runs each function, at which site.

  6. 06

    Expansion history

New sites, capability moves and appointments, with dates.

Chapter 02

How big is it, who works there and who is it hiring?

Tell a centre that is growing a team from one that is replacing it.

Read this chapter

Read the workforce by function and by seniority, the cities it sits in, and how it has changed over twelve and twenty-four months. Open roles from job postings show where the centre is adding people now and which skills it is asking for.

  • Workforce composition: function and seniority mix
  • Where hires come from, by function
  • Open roles by city and role, with month-on-month change
  • Skills in demand and their pay premium

Chapter 03

What does it pay?

See whether the company pays above or below its industry for the roles that matter to you.

Read this chapter

Annual cost to company at the 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentile for a role and experience band, for the company, its industry and the market side by side. Where we hold skill premiums, the pay for a skill is shown next to the role.

Chapter 04

Who leads it, and how is it organised?

Know who to speak to, and what their remit is, before you reach out.

Read this chapter

Function by function: who holds the seat, at which site, and what sits beneath it. Where the structure is covered, you read the organisation the way the company draws it, not as a list of names.

Chapter 05

Compare this GCC with its peers

Place a company within the market it competes in.

Read this chapter

A number is only useful against something. Choose a peer set by industry, size or city and put the company next to it on workforce, growth, hiring and pay. The peer set can be the one you would choose or the one the platform suggests from the company's industry and scale.

Chapter 06

What has it done, and when?

Read how a centre got to its present shape, in order.

Read this chapter

Set-up year, additional locations, capability moves, senior appointments and expansion news appear on one timeline for the company, each dated and tied to its source. Where we have a documented build journey for the centre, it sits here as well.

Questions this evidence can answer.

What does this GCC look like by function and seniority, and how has that changed in two years?

Which roles is it hiring for in Bengaluru this month, and what do they pay?

  3. 03

Who leads technology and data at this centre, and who do they report to?

  4. 04

How does it compare with the three largest GCCs in its industry?

  5. 05

Where did it open its second site, and when?

Definitions for this view

The terms on this page, defined.

Every figure on a CapSight page comes with its definition, so you never have to guess what a number is counting.

GCC
A Global Capability Centre: a centre a company runs in India for its own global work, such as engineering, analytics, finance, operations or support. It is part of the company, not an outside vendor.
Platform Industry
The one industry grouping CapSight uses for every company, so a filter or a chart means the same thing on every page. There are 10.
Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities
Tier 1 is the eight established hubs: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Every other city is Tier 2.
Operating centre
A company's presence in one city. A GCC with centres in three cities has three, which is why centres outnumber GCCs.
Signal
A recorded change at a company, such as a new site, a hiring surge or an appointment, with its date and source. A signal is evidence of activity, not of what the company intends.
Median and percentiles
The median (P50) is the middle value: half the sample sits below it. Percentiles show the spread around it, so a median is never quoted without its band.
